painting shoes?

As I don't have many shoes and I hate shopping, I get to know my shoes really well before they wear out. Soles come off or nails make holes, or sometimes, they just wear out and become walking puddles.   

I am toying with the tradition of painting a picture of my shoes before I toss them.  I don't know why, it just seem right.

I got this far with the first layer of paint.  I suppose they are shoe shaped but we can't really see the separation of shoe from sole.   Or all the mud I left on.  But we got to start somewhere so I will leave this to dry and hide in the basement until I can figure out what to do next.
