Well, that was fun painting Van Gogh, but I sure have a lot of paint left over.
I've got a plan.
This is how we make Palette Grey.
So long as no medium or solvent has been used (a drop or two of oil are probably fine), pile the remaining paint into a, um, pile. Mix it all together and get the smallest ittty bitty jar you can find and put it in the jar.
The colour is always going to be a little bit different, but if you use a standard set of colours, it will always fit well with what you paint. It can be used as a grey for regular painting or as an under painting grey. Both work well.
There is another grey in the world that painters go crazy about. It's made from the waste particles caught in an air filter of one of the paint manufacture. It's a limited run. The colour is different every year. And it costs way too much. Also, it sells out in hours. I often wonder why these people don't make palette grey.
I think Palette grey is more fun. And more frugal.
