twitter - do you care?

Do people in the world actually care about twitter?

Would anyone who reads this blog or any yarn friends who stumble across this want me to join twitter?

What makes twitter better than a blog?

Talk me into joining twitter or give me good reason not to.

I hang out a lot on Twitter. To me, it's like a fun coffeeshop where you can meet fun and/or like-minded people, where you're welcome to join the conversation happening at the next table if you want to, and share bits of what's on your mind. A friend has written a good post on how she sees and uses Twitter: http://www.fluentself.com/blog/stuff/twitter-demystified-the-great-debunking-begins/ That post is a few years old, but the info is still good.

I know there are lots of yarn people on Twitter. It might be a good place to connect with other knitters who don't know your blog and may not yet have found your yarn on Etsy. I tend to hang out with a different crowd there, but I know of at least one knitter/spinner/dyer who has found Twitter to be a great way to connect with her people.

Now, to answer your question as to whether I'd want you to join Twitter, I'd say that I want you to do what feels good and nourishing to you. If you think Twitter can be fun and you'd like to give it a try, I'll be delighted to follow you there. If you don't really feel like it, you really don't have to force yourself to do it. But if you're curious, it's worth giving it a try!

Finally, I wouldn't say it's "better" than a blog; it's different, simply. Even though I can go months without publishing a blog post, I can still keep in touch with my Twitter friends, and keep them updated as to what's going on with me. Blogs and Twitter are two entirely different ways to connect with people.

If you decide to give it a try, you can find me there: https://twitter.com/#!/kimianak And if you'd like to me to tell you more, feel free to ask! :)

I have never joined Twitter and don't plan to. Facebook, though, is a different story. :) Nice blog.
